Wall Street Pepe ($WEPE) is a meme coin with massive potential. It took off quickly during its initial presale launch. $WEPE raised over $1.3 million in just 3 days and “it crossed the $40 million mark on January 3rd and has now reached $50 million” (Cointelegraph, 2025; The Cryptonomist, 2024).
Meme coins have surged in popularity in recent years. Initially evolving from trends across social media, now seen as a legitimate investment option for retail investors around the world. Cryptocurrencies are known for their volatility and speculative nature. However, this is even more true of meme coins. These coins frequently turn out to be scams too. Investors who understand the underlying technology of these digital assets, and the tokenomics behind them, are more able to distinguish between legitimate projects and scams. Most people in the crypto community focus on Bitcoin and Ethereum. This has meant meme coins have received less attention from institutional investors (Krause, 2024, pp. 1-2). However, big-time investors are still showing interest in meme coins such as $WEPE. “For example, a crypto whale gobbled up $200K worth of $WEPE on 16th December in a single transaction” (TradingView, 2025).
