My Crypto Trading Journey: The Road to Consistency and Profitability | by Johannes | The Capital | Mar, 2025
Introduction: Trading has always fascinated me. The charts, the numbers, the thrill of making the right call — it’s a world filled with opportunities and risks. Over the past weeks, I’ve dived deep into the world of crypto trading, specifically focusing on day trading XRP/USDT. My goal? To refine my strategy, develop discipline, and ultimately become a profitable full-time trader by the end of 2025.
Like many beginners, I started off trading multiple coins, chasing pumps, and making impulsive decisions. But through trial and error, I realized the importance of focusing on one asset at a time. That’s why I decided to stick with XRP/USDT for my next 20 trades to build consistency.
I primarily use MACD and RSI as my indicators, along with EMAs (Exponential Moving Averages) to identify trends. My strategy revolves around:
- MACD crossovers for momentum confirmation
- RSI levels (Above 70 = overbought, Below 30 = oversold)
- EMA 7 and EMA 25 for short-term trend tracking
- Proper risk-reward management (minimum 1:2 RRR)
- Small Wins, Small Losses: Initially, I found myself making cents per trade, feeling like progress was slow. But I learned that consistency beats lucky big wins.
- Stop-Loss Discipline: Early on, I neglected stop-loss orders and paid the price. Now, every trade has a defined stop loss and take profit before I enter.
- Emotional Control: Fear of missing out (FOMO) and revenge trading were my biggest enemies. Learning to stay calm and stick to my plan was a game-changer.
- Scouting the market in the morning
- Short trade during high-volume periods
- Long trade at night if setups align
- Strict risk management (max 2–3% per trade)
The Future: What’s Next? This is just the beginning. I’m documenting my trades, learning from every mistake, and refining my system. My goal is to grow my account steadily and transition into full-time trading. Whether I achieve this or not, one thing is certain — I’m fully committed to this journey.
